HRT 120 and 140
Epoxy Tooling Gel Coats

HRT 120 & 140 are Epoxy Gel coats mainly used in tooling production, and in association with Epoxy pre pregs.

They both support high temperatures and we recommend their use for mould production, with our laminating Epoxy system HTG 120 & HTG 140.

- Gel Coat HRT 120 is blue, and can be worked at room temperature.

- Gel Coat HRT 140 is black, and must be heated to around 50 ° C to work properly, because of its high viscosity.

We recommend applying them with a brush, in layers of 500 - 800 µ (400 - 600 g m²).

As soon as the gel coat achieves gel time, a first layer of light fabric or chopped strand mat impregnated with epoxy, should be applied, this will achieve the best bond with the laminate.

The mould must be made in one application; new layers applied one on top of the other, as soon as possible. No curing must be done before all the mould is finished.

In case of a mould for RTM, an epoxy concrete, made of resin filled with aluminium particles or sand can be made. Proceed as for a hands lay up mould, with a few layers of fabrics applied after the gel coat. Then as soon as possible when the gel time is passed, pour the epoxy concrete over it. In this case, post curing should be done when the whole mould is finished.
